The Second World Conference on Higher Education
Unesco has announced it's intention to convoke this year a Second World Conference on Higher Education, under the slogan "The New Dynamics of Higher Education". The first such conference took place in 1998. From it emerged the "World Declaration on Higher Education in the XXI Century: Vision and Action", the guidelines and recommendations of which have had a great impact on higher education in all regions of the world.
     


 
Accreditation of graduate courses and regional integration as a means toward teacher and scientific development
Graduate courses are a means of guaranteeing the production of new knowledge, and accreditation is the mechanism to assure their quality.

"PuntoEDU", the higher education radio podcast of Latin America and the Caribbean is available on the Unesco Iesalc website. PuntoEDU is a bi-weekly radio broadcast that will treat current higher education themes and trends in the region.

Students ready for the World Conference on Higher Education
The Latin American and Caribbean Continental Student Organization (OCLAE in it's acronym in Spanish)was a result of the IV Latin American Student Congress in 1966, as a movement to carry out activities in favour of the reform and democratization of education. Moreover, the young people struggled for the elimination of illiteracy, and argued for fostering academic exchange and education without discrimination.

UNESCO participates in the IV Conference on Educational Co-operation with Ibero-America for Youth and Adult EducationIn Cartagena de Indias, Colombia With the sponsorship of the Ministry of Education, Social Policy and Sports of Spain, the IV Conference on Educational Co-operation with Ibero-America for Youth and Adult Education took place in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, between March 16 and 20, with the participation of UNESCO's Regional Bureau for Education in Latin America and the Caribbean.
