Successful Closing to the CAIE-Canada 2017

The fifth edition of the Conference of the Americas on Higher Education (CAIE Canada-2017) successfully gathered a total of 640 participants from 29 different countries in Montreal, Canada, under the theme of “Preparing the Leaders and Innovators of Tomorrow: Research and Higher Education, Bridges to Prosperity Across the Americas.”

In addition to serving as CAEI Canada-2017’s host country, over 40% of the total participants were from Canada placing it at the top of the list of countries with the largest participation in the Conference, followed by Mexico (12%), Colombia (7 %), Brazil (6%), the United States (5%) and Argentina (5%).

In this fifth edition of the Conference, 81 academics and other speakers participated in 17 plenary sessions and workshops, while 136 participants presented their work during 30 parallel sessions leading to a total involvement of 217 experts in international education.

The presenters not only discussed issues as diverse as the value given to knowledge in society, innovation ecosystems, information technologies and their impact on education, and institutional collaboration strategies in mobility and research, but also opened dialogues and spaces for reflection on internationalization ethics, equity and inclusion, the social responsibility of higher education institutions and their role in building more equitable and prosperous communities.

In addition, several international collaboration agreements were established during the event between different delegations with the aim of furthering academic relations between countries in the Americas.
