The Knowledge Society will be the central theme of the XVII International Colloquium on University Management (CIGU) in Mar de Plata, Argentina

The XVII International University Management Colloquium (CIGU): University, Development and Future in the Knowledge Society, will take place from November 22nd to 24th in Mar del Plata, Argentina. This event has been held since 2000 thanks to a collaboration agreement between the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC)(Brazil) through its Postgraduate Program in Management (CPGA in its initials in Portuguese); the Instituto de Pesquisas e Estudos em Administração Universitária (INPEAU)(Brazil); the Master's Degree in University Management from the Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata (UNMdP)(Argentina) and the Universidad Nacional Tres de Febrero (UNTREF)(Argentina).

The goals of the next international colloquium are to strengthen the interface between the region’s universities in order to increase academic and cultural exchanges; maximize systematic studies on management theories and models applied to regional universities; deepen the discussion about the vulnerability of the university institutions in face of the current crises and transformations; and rethink the development strategies for teaching, research, extension and management of universities.

The themes chosen for the events are based on the regional reality and the process of structural transformation that has been generated in the world of higher education during the last years. This time there will be an emphasis on the knowledge society and it will be made up by 6 panels: 1) University, Development and Future in the Knowledge Society, 2) University Reform: Challenges and Perspectives, 3) University Social Commitment Management, 4) Ethics and Governance in the University, 5) IGLU: Institute of Management and Leadership, of the Inter-American University Organization (IUO) program; and 6) Academic Innovation Management.
