The Analytical Woman Award will be awarded to the Rector of the University of Carabobo, Venezuela

In the framework of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, held each year on November 25th, the nonprofit organization Asociación Civil Mujer y Ciudadanía, and the Center for Studies on Citizen Participation of the Monteavila University in Caracas, Venezuela, will award the Rector of the University of Carabobo, Jessy Divo de Romero, with the Analytical Woman Award 2017.

The members of the award committee, made up by important Venezuelan personalities, have chosen to pay homage to rector Jessy Divo de Romero for her great civic work in the active defense of women's rights, in the promotion of greater participation of women in different spheres of society and in the dissemination of their work at a national level. The award ceremony - scheduled for November 30th in the main auditorium of the Monteávila University - will count with words spoken by Ambassador Isabel Brilhante Pedrosa, head of the Delegation of the European Union in Venezuela, and with the presence of the rector of the Monteávila University, Dr. Francisco Febres Cordero.

Women and Citizenship works actively in giving women the credit they deserve as fundamental actors of Venezuelan democracy, through the defense of their rights and the promotion of their leadership in the different spheres of society. Thanks to its Analytical Women award, created in 2007, the organization seeks to stimulate the growth of citizen awareness, support the empowerment of women in a society in constant change, and to promote gender equality in an increasingly globalized world.

The Women and Citizenship Association and its Analytical Woman Award thus contribute to the achievement of objective 5 (SDG5) of the 2030 sustainable development agenda dedicated to the importance of gender equality, a cross-cut issue that will contribute to reduce poverty and improve living conditions of Venezuelan women.
